BRCA 1/8th Nationals
On Sunday 26th June, the Halifax track housed the BRCA 1/8th section for the 4th round of their national series. Despite the track being much slower than last year there was still a lot of grip on the track due the the 1/10th national the week before.
During qualifying it was clear that barely anyone in the top 20 would be able to complete a 5 minute run without a fuel stop. If any of these drivers could do so they were almost guaranteed a place in the A-final. As a result of this most drivers chose to make a fuel stop to avoid risking their engines.
After qualifying it was Kyle Branson on the TQ spot 3 seconds clear of team mate Tim Wood with Mugen driver Andrew North in third.
The first final was the E-final which was won by Dave Jones with Earl Mclean in second and Barry Doran in third.
In the D-final it was Greg Fairlie who took first place with Paul Dewsnap in second and Lee Stokes in third.
The C-final saw Ross Simons take the top spot less than a lap ahead of Richard Boult. Chris Simons finished in third.
The B-Final was won by Karl Dransfield with Austin Elliott in second and Dan Ghibaldan in third.
As the A-final kicked off Kyle made a clean start and began to pull a substantial gap on Tim; until he made a slight mistake coming onto the straight allowing Tim to catch up slightly. After this Kyle continued to create a bigger gap from Tim and his position was un-challenged for the rest of the final. Andrew Hastings managed to make his way up the pack to come home in third.

BRCA 1/10th Nationals
Sunday 19th June saw the second Halifax round of the BRCA 1/10th IC nationals. Despite the odd shower early on in the day the weather held out and some great racing took place with the track eventually showing reasonable levels of grip.
200mm FTQ was taken by Kyle Branson, with Serpent Factory driver Mark Green in second and Adam Catchpole in a very close third. After the 30 minute final it was Adam catchpole who took the win with his orcan powered Shepherd Velox V10. Chris Steele came in a very close second with His Murnan RB powered Shepherd Velox V10 having travelled all the way from Ireland for this event. And Mark Green came home in third with his novarossi powered Serpent 733.
In the 220mm class it was sports gt regular Glyn Beal who took the title of top qualifier a mere hundredth of a second ahead of team mate Mark Green. Peter Hastings qualified third after having gearbox issues in his last run in which he was in contention for TQ. For the final two cars didn't make it to the start line after Mark Green hit trouble in warm up. Halifax electric rep Michael Ball was rushed back to the pits after suffering chronic radio interference on the start line. The absence of Mark allowed Glyn and Peter to sail away from the rest of the pack. Peter was slowly closing the gap on Glyn until he too hit trouble and had to retire from the race. At this point Mark had solved his issues and returned to the race. From this point Mark was untouchable and proceeded to tear through the pack bringing it home in first with Glyn in second and Mark Christopher in third.
A fantastic weekend was had by all down at the track and there was a fantastic atmosphere throughout.
